Vinciane Rycroft

As a child, Gabriele was rebellious and strong-willed. Having received harsh punishment, she began a search to cope with the anger that resulted from these relationships.

Noticing that even years later she still carried the imprints of these interactions, Gabriele discovered — at age 27 — the meditation of loving-kindness, which opened her heart to the uncertainty inherent in any relationship and became a tool to heal some of the difficulties she faced.

Today, thirty years later, meditation remains her daily companion, and has brought her a strong conviction: that the rebel in her can find freedom and liberation by opening a space within — one that brings comfort and ease to any situation. Gabriele loves being of service to others and has supported Rigpa in various capacities since 2005, following a long-term retreat.

Jonathan Garner

Through Jonathan’s love of the band Radiohead he accidentally stumbled across the Tibetan Book of Living and Dying in 2001. When not playing video games to avoid exam revision, reading this book became a new favourite pastime that sparked a life-long interest into what it really means to be human. After completing a degree in sculpture he taught himself to code and design websites which gave him freedom to attend various meditation retreats around Europe and begin instructing meditation in his local centre in London.

In 2018, frustrated by how distracted he was by his smartphone, he founded Mind over Tech—a training company that helps people build attention, presence and agency in their digital lives. In 2024 he moved to Berlin and co-founded wisdom+ai, bringing together AI professionals and Buddhist teachers to explore how this new technology relates to consciousness and human experience, and how it can be aligned with our deepest values. Jonathan still struggles with digital distraction, and finds that instructing meditation courses is a great way to help keep his own practice on track.

Fiona Loehr

Since she can remember, Fiona has been deeply moved by moments of experiencing reality directly - the spaciousness and stillness of a clear open sky or enjoying an unexpected piece of art or poetry.

This sparked a profound interest in the mind that seems to be witnessing all this.

After brief encounters with Neuroscience, Shamanism and Yoga, as well as a bachelors degree in Psychology, she found her home in the Tibetan Buddhist teachings in 2010. Meditation as a practice of wakefulness and unconditional love, has since become a steady shore through ups and downs of life.

She is guiding meditation sessions for groups since about 10 years and has been professionally running meditation events since 2015.

Gender-Queerness has recently become a new chapter of discovery on her path.

Catherine Paul

Catherine attended her first 10-day Vipassana meditation retreat in Australia in 1984. She discovered just how restless her mind was, and how difficult it can be to sit still and deeply relax without relying on drugs or alcohol.

Through many ups and downs, and many stops and starts, she gradually came to realise that meditation practice is a golden key to living a healthy, resilient life and to meeting death with confidence.

She worked for many years as a litigation lawyer, a background that continues to fuel her interest in searching for truth.

She is a grateful student of many kind teachers, most of whom are from the Tibetan Buddhist tradition.

Max Krause

Max grew up in West Berlin and had music in his head from a young age. He dreamed of composing musicals but almost became a physicist instead. Boredom, a broken heart and depression led him to the Tibetan Book of Living and Dying and an interest in how to be a healthy, open hearted human.

He has done many years of retreat and helped develop teaching materials and Rigpa course programs. He is particularly interested to explore how the teachings can be brought into everyday life, He still has music in his head and works with putting traditional Tibetan liturgies into melodic English.

Nico Yardas

Nico grew up in the backwoods of California, and was diagnosed with ADHD at age 6. He began to train in Karate-Do to help manage his symptoms around the same time, and through martial arts, he experienced just how impactful a daily mindfulness practice can be on attention, presence, and connection.

Nico continues to meditate daily, holds a Black Belt in Shito-Ryu Karate-Dō, studies Eastern and Western contemplative traditions from Tibetan Buddhism to Epicureanism, and nerds out on Ancient Greek myth, the Hobbit, dancing, and meditation.

In his professional life, Nico has over a decade of experience creating and facilitating spaces where people can discover how to impact the world around them. Currently, he is the founder and principal of Here Be Dragons Coaching, where he works people with ADHD to fully attend to that which matters most in their lives and careers.

Maitri Berners

Maitri's fascination with how we shape the world through the workings of our own minds began in her teenage years.

This curiosity led her to Kathmandu University in Nepal, where she graduated with a BA in Buddhist Philosophy and Himalayan Languages in 2020. She has been facilitating meditation sessions and retreats for young adults and beyond for 8 years.

Her interest lies especially in the ways Eastern wisdom traditions can help us face the challenges of our time, both globally and individually, without slipping into cultural appropriation or shallow imitation.
