Open Heart

When was the last time you were truly kind to yourself?

Not as a reward, not as self-care theater, but as a real, honest act of warmth toward the person you actually are? Most of us are better at being kind to strangers than to ourselves. And it costs us more than we realize.

“The course allowed me to work on my chronic problem with lateness, on the suffering that implies for myself and others, and to discover that being on time was like giving myself a gift.”

“A couple of times I got upset during group meditation because of things happening in my personal life, yet still felt welcome and never judged. I was very comforted by the welcoming of emotional honesty.”

You can try many different ways to feel better about yourself:

  • You can read self-help books and listen to motivational podcasts.

  • You might push yourself harder at the gym, at work, or in your relationships.

  • You could vent to a friend or scroll through affirmations online.

  • You might even tell yourself to just "think positive" and power through.

Many of these efforts, while well-intentioned, only scratch the surface. They address the symptoms of our disconnection but don't reach the root of the problem.

Most of us have been trained from childhood to earn our own approval, to treat ourselves well only when we've "deserved" it.

And we wonder why we feel exhausted.

So what about this?

In OPEN HEART, we take a different approach to well-being: one that starts not with fixing ourselves, but with befriending ourselves.

We begin by exploring a surprisingly simple question: what does it actually mean to be kind to myself?

Through guided meditation and compassion practices, we learn to meet our thoughts and emotions without judgment, neither suppressing them, nor getting swept away by them.

We discover that the kindness we're looking for doesn't need to be manufactured. It needs to be uncovered.

Questions we’ll explore

  • What am I really looking for?

  • How do I react to my feelings and emotions?

  • What does it mean to be kind to myself?

  • How have I been kind to myself today?

  • How do I react when something goes wrong?

  • How can I handle tough situations?

  • What does it mean to forgive myself?

  • What happens when I try to give more love to myself?

  • "During the months the course lasted, I went through some difficult experiences, and what I learned in the course helped me a great deal. The instructors were wonderful, far beyond what I expected. I discovered how easy it is to meditate and how important it is for truly knowing yourself."
